Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of what I guess could be called “indie folk-rock.” Midlake caught my attention and now made way into my playlist. Their sound is very refreshing and reminiscent of the great old-fashioned rock bands of the 70’s. I’m loving the relaxing harmonies and orchestrations in their songs. With one listen, I was instantly hooked. The Trials of Van Occupanther, their second full-length album (released in 2006) has a handful of timeless tracks such as “Head Home,” and my personal favorite, “Roscoe.”

saw them at the fonda last year. great show. check out their work with the chemical brothers. you can find it on the chemical brothers latest release we are the night, songs called the pills won’t help you now. most excellent indeed.
