Interview - PrimeMinister

Erfan may live in LA now, but he hasn’t always lived there. Born in Isfahan, Iran, Erfan has crossed the globe to where he resides now, in the States. His Persian upbringing has stressed the importance of poetry and literature, while his travels have taught him the beauty of street wisdom. All of these elements are tastefully poured into his art - which hits the ears in an interesting way.

Erfan has lived the majority of his life in California. Those who know him would consider him to be American, yet ethnically he is Persian. This makes sense because when you hear Erfan’s music, the familiar sounds of west coast hip hop drop into your phones… w/Farsi lyrics. To get a good understanding of what this means, you need to hear it for yourself. Visit PoetErfan.comI met up with Erfan at his recording studio in North Hollywood, where he is working on his upcoming album (which will be out by the time you read this). Relaxed and in the zone, Erfan graces the mic like a seasoned veteran. When the cut is finished, Erfan grabs a seat and discusses a variety of topics ranging from 9/11 to his upcoming album; Az Khaneh Ta Goor (From the Cradle to the Grave).

The conversation continues later that week when I head over to his CD release party in Orange County. The club is packed with fans eager to see the man perform. By the time Erfan hits the stage, the crowd is in a frenzy; the security on stage is a nice touch.

After his performance, he pulls me over to the side, we grab some drinks, and talk some more. It’s a bit hard to hold a conversation because his attention is constantly vied for by admiring fans. Erfan is onto something big here, and dammit, I got his song stuck in my head. Weirder still is the fact that I don’t understand Farsi.More features: As Cities Burn, Drowning Pool, FM, Lifehouse, The Pink Spiders, Restitution Press, Vans Warped Tour, Xavier, Zune Presents Live at the BBQ
