As a 16 year old I grew up without the age of staying up late in my pajamas waiting for wrestling matches of the former WWF consisting of the well known:

Andre the Giant

The Ultimate Warrior

and Hulk Hogan

Questioning the origin of Shephard Fairey’s logo of his OBEY company, DPD screams “WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW ANDRE THE GIANT?!” Soon enough I see Andre the Giant being picked up by another dude I didn’t know til today: Ultimate Warrior.

Although I have never heard of these characters beside Hogan from all the publicity and shows he’s had, they seem to be well, BAMFs.

Heres a clip that’ll make all you old-timers squeal with excitement.

Also its almost Christmas so I will leave you with this hot blonde chick with a hot accent telling you about the origin of the words Christmas and Santa Claus. :]

First off, my inner-geek needs to get this over with. Cargo Bay and StylinOnline.com are selling Star Wars themed sports apparel. May the Force be with them! Also, the folks at Lifehacker.com have compiled a list of the Most Popular Free Windows Downloads of 2008, which is definitely worth checking out. And for all you hipster fucks, the guys at Dev-Team have gone and unlocked the iPhone 3G. If you don’t know what that means, it means these good gentlemen have hacked the iPhone so that you can run third-party applications that Apple and the iPhone won’t let you run normally. The app is scheduled to be released by December 31st. Finally, something for Angelino Geeks that aren’t afraid to crawl from their internetz and computers, g33kd1nner is celebrating it’s 6th year anniversary tonight at uWink at 8PM. Also, Creative Commons, a nonprofit corporation dedicated to making it easier for people to share and build upon existing ideas of others, consistent with the rules of copyright, is celebrating it’s 6th birthday together with g33kd1nner. Bring money for food and drinks.

And moving on, I found these pictures from the riots in Greece of protesters clashing with police forces. Sparked by a small clash between two Special Guards of the Greek Police and a group of young men. It’s uncertain what took place, but in the end, the Guards fired three shots, and one of the bullets struck and killed 15-year-old Alexander Grigoropoulos. Great photos showing the destruction and conflict between protesters and police.

And something design and type buffs might be interested in. ITVS/Community Cinema, presents the movie Helvetica, screening at the Aero in West Hollywood tonight at 730PM. Admission is free.

This world is going mad, I’m sure of it. Versace is planning on building a refrigerated beach. WTF? Angry old man shoots five at a hip hop concert? WTF? Egyptian billionaire invests in North Korean 3G network? WTF? Somebody throws a shoe at Bush, and is considered a hero? Eh, that one I could understand.

Just got back from Vegas (will post my adventures later) but had to post this up for now. Whenever I’m coming back home on the 10 I go up La Brea. I spotted this the other day and couldn’t get over the genius of the piece:

Now I’m actually not for either camps at this point (my choice didn’t make the cut… rEVOLution!), but whether you’re supporting McCain or Obama, you have to admire this piece of work.
*The posters can be seen on the west side of La Brea just north of San Vincente.
