I’ve noticed everyone is making their own music these days. Well for those who aren’t so music program savvy like me, check out Musicshake (http://www.musicshake.com)

It’s “The easiest way to make music in the world”

Just combine different blocks of instruments and vocal samples on a timeline from Musicshake’s large library of samples. I must say, its simple and its pretty dayam addicting.

Musicshake recently teamed up with Nexon to hold a contest, and winner their song game featured in online dancing game, Audition! Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

<<Old PSA telling you not to make mixtapes. Bonus points if you can tell me where this logo can now be found!

I’m loving this website www.muxtape.com not only because Muxtape is touting itself as a digital equivilent of analog mixtapes or because of that uploading a song and creating your muxtape takes a matter of seconds but because of the mixtapes people come up with! (I created http://richandcreamy.muxtape.com/d in under 30 seconds including load time for that one song!)

I think it’s fun to type into google a random search term + muxtape and finding what people have thrown together. You get thousands of results and get to stumble upon links you may have never fallen on top of normally.

There’s one blog that made me feel compelled to share Muxtapes with FR*A and that’s http://www.butterteam.com for giving us

THE ULTIMATE COUGAR MUXTAPE

“A cougar unexpectedly crosses your path at the bar/grocery store. You think quickly on your feet, make a signature move, and she takes the bait. Even if things start to go downhill back at your place (you haven’t exactly tidied up and there’s only one bullet in the fridge) that’s nothing a little Keith Sweat + Patrick Swayze + Rick Astley can’t fix.”

Based on my own cougar experiences I’d rate this as a certified panty dropper.

BONUS!

Check it out. Jon Phenom, designer extraordinare, has kicked off ‘08 with his new webshow, HAY FAM, where he interviews his friends and colleagues from the fashion world and related industries. He interviews risk-takers and innovators who have shaped and created lifestyles for others. You’ll even spot a fellow FR*A blogger in one of the episodes!

And check out the first episode with the one and only Mr. Kim of Evil Monito.
Can you spot the FR*A brand in the vid?

So far I’ve watched all the episodes up on the site and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing more. Good stuff, Jon. Keep it coming.

Having nothing better to do, I watched “Rocket Science” earlier tonight. It’s pretty much your typical coming-of-age indie flick, (nothing too original), but it has its own cute, quirky moments. The colorful film centers on Hal Hefner (played by newcomer Reece Daniel Thompson), a stuttering boy who reluctantly joins the Plainsboro High School Debate Team due to the suggestion of a pretty girl. The film cast progresses as Hal decides to enter the state finals to amend himself after much public humiliation and a broken heart. The actors are basically spot-on with their characters. They fit well into their often awkward scenes, as the film has a rather unpretentious depiction of high school set in a New Jersey suburb. The film itself is nothing fancy; it resembles other independent youth flicks, but its simple scenes come off the screen as a very genuine effort from the actors and director, Jeffrey Blitz. Heston (played by Aaron Yoo), in particular, stands out as Hal’s somewhat creepy, but loving and supportive best friend. He adopts his character well with the quiet demeanor and unusual personality, right down to his ineptly shaped bowl haircut. The soundtrack, which features songs from Clem Snide frontman Eef Barzelay, also tends to grow on you. I can’t say I loved it, (some of it was slow-paced) but overall, it was a pretty fun film to watch.YouTube Preview Image

But to me, its nothing compared to Wes Andersons “Rushmore.” I prefer Andersons soundtrack too.
