So I’m brand new here at FR*A, and I guess I’ll just jump right into this.  You guys might have heard about Eminem’s new album Relapse that’s scheduled to be released Jan or Feb 2009.  You guys might have also caught the leaked track Number One produced by Dr. Dre. If you haven’t had a chance to catch the leaked track floating around the internet, you can easily find it on torrent sites.

The track was featured on a Big Mike and DJ Neptune mixtape. Apparently, Dr. Dre is supposed to drop a verse or two on the album version. Also, most of the tracks on Shady’s Relapse are supposed to be produced by Dre.

Personally, I think the song is wack. It can’t compare with any tracks from the Slim Shady LP.  Remember that song Guilty Conscience?  Or Role Model?  Shady dropped some hot shit right thurr.

G-Funk Era

The other day, DPD and I had a good talk about how we miss hip-hop from the 90’s..
Then wondered, whatever happened to G-Funk??

Incase you don’t know what G-Funk is, Wikipedia describes it as:
G-Funk, or “Gangsta Funk”, is a type of hip hop music that emerged from West Coast gangsta rap in the early 1990s. G-funk (largely derived from slowing the tempo down of funk music) incorporates multi-layered and melodic synthesizers, slow hypnotic grooves, a deep bass, background female vocals, the extensive sampling of p-funk tunes, and a high portamento sine wave keyboard lead—a feature that became the genre’s notable trademark.

Personally, I think its the best form of hip-hop that emerged from the Westcoast (notably Long Beach, CA - biyatch!!!).
