It seems like dance battles are all the rage these days. I just caught this video on Angry Asian Man and I must say, it’s pretty cool. Well it certainly got my attention anyway.
So pretty much Jon M. Chu (director of Step Up 2: The Streets) recently put together ACDC (Adam/Chu Dance Crew) with actor Adam Sevani. And together they came up with the idea to challenge Miley Cyrus to a dance-off.
Video also includes several celebrity cameos and my personal faves, the JabbaWockeez and Hok Konishi from Quest. This is what ultimately went down…
And here’s the earlier video response from M&M Cru (Miley Cryus and friend Mandy Jiroux.)

And who doesn’t love ice cream? Especially FREE ice cream?

Ice Cream Man founder Matt Allen’s primary mission was simply to hand out as much free ice cream as possible to people all over the country. Sparked by his own curiosity, Allen wanted to see how far he could carry out such a simple idea of passing out free ice cream. Now, the Ice Cream Man wants to give the gift of these frozen novelty treats to sweet-toothed people all throughout the world, especially on their visit to local children’s hospitals in the L.A. area.
The Ice Cream Man and his crew tour all over the states handing out free ice cream wherever they go. You can see them most often present at music shows and venues, like the recent SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.
Ice Cream Man is always looking for new volunteers to help them distribute the frozen goods. So feel free to join The Ice Cream Movement!
Visit their website for more info, music reviews, and get a tasty treat. FREE.

Hell, it looks like these guys are having the time of their lives.
“In the summer of 2007, for example, he traversed the United States with sixteen models and three assistants, shooting 4,000 rolls of film. From the resulting 150,000 photographs, he arduously narrowed down the body of work to some fifty images, the best of which are on display here at the gallery.”
New York-based photographer Ryan McGinley will be launching his newest exhibition entitled, “I Know Where the Summer Goes,†(title based off an early B-side of Belle and Sebastian) at Team Gallery in April. The exhibit will run until May 3rd 2008.
These are some awesome shots. (I love anything involving a camera.) If you’re on the East Coast, I recommend you check it out.

Chaos Theory Music Presents…

It looks like up-and-coming-band Seriously will have a busy month ahead of them. On April 5th, they will kick off their “Heart Tour†at Georgetown University for the 4th annual VASCON. Chris, Josh, Philip, and newest addition Nathan, may be young (three out of the four members are still college students), but they’re certainly garnering a lot more attention. OC-and LA-based Seriously not only has legions of prepubescent and teenaged girls fawning over them, but the industry is starting to take notice, too. Yes, don’t let the pretty, young faces fool you. The boys of Seriously take their music to heart (seriously). Believe it or not, they are professionals. Fans describe their music as refreshing and addictive. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that songs like “Irony” and “Dare I Say” are super catchy. They basically came out of the womb making music, and now, they’re growing up with the business. What Seriously lacks in years, they make up for with talent. Whether it’s music therapy or they’re just goofing around with pop song covers, these guys are earnest with their work. Seriously is definitely a band you should keep your eyes on.
The Heart Tour will begin April 5th at VASCON and work its way through several universities.

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of what I guess could be called “indie folk-rock.” Midlake caught my attention and now made way into my playlist. Their sound is very refreshing and reminiscent of the great old-fashioned rock bands of the 70’s. I’m loving the relaxing harmonies and orchestrations in their songs. With one listen, I was instantly hooked. The Trials of Van Occupanther, their second full-length album (released in 2006) has a handful of timeless tracks such as “Head Home,” and my personal favorite, “Roscoe.”

I don’t know, I just thought the video was kind of cool. This is from Stockholm-based duo, The Knife. They often wear masks and such while performing to keep their identities hidden.
Anyways, this is the live version of “Heartbeats” from their Silent Shout Deluxe album. Enjoy.
