Homecoming

Although I (in my opinion.. whats yours?) think its one of the weakest link in Graduation, but its always dope to see two of my favorite artists come together.
Call it a Homecoming.

Its also fresh seeing Common in the clip. The word is the original version of this song contained Common singing the hook, but Kanye decided to go with Chris Martin’s version.

California Dreamin’
April 1st, 2008
I’m thinking my parents were watching The Hollywood Palace in winter of 65′ and triggered something.
For a group that was really only around for few years, achieved much success as well as downfalls. From ten Top 10 hits to inner band scandals, The Mamas and The Papas made much spark in the 60’s.
The Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin’
I’d be safe and warm, if I was in L.A.
Benny Benassi - California Dreamin’ (Remix)
California Dreamin’, the band’s first successful single made a remarkable comeback in 97′ and now has more than 30 known covers.

G-Funk Era
March 22nd, 2008
The other day, DPD and I had a good talk about how we miss hip-hop from the 90’s..
Then wondered, whatever happened to G-Funk??
Incase you don’t know what G-Funk is, Wikipedia describes it as:
G-Funk, or “Gangsta Funk”, is a type of hip hop music that emerged from West Coast gangsta rap in the early 1990s. G-funk (largely derived from slowing the tempo down of funk music) incorporates multi-layered and melodic synthesizers, slow hypnotic grooves, a deep bass, background female vocals, the extensive sampling of p-funk tunes, and a high portamento sine wave keyboard leadâ€â€a feature that became the genre’s notable trademark.
Personally, I think its the best form of hip-hop that emerged from the Westcoast (notably Long Beach, CA - biyatch!!!).
