If I’m ever feeling down I’m definitely watching this clip. Stick around for the kids at the end…

radiohead new album

Hot damn… I’m one happy camper.

From Radiohead’s blog:

Hello everyone.
Well, the new album is finished, and it’s coming out in 10 days;
We’ve called it In Rainbows.

Love from us all.
Jonny

Check out Virginia Heffernan’s NY Times article on Funtwo (aka Jeong-Hyun Lim)…the shy guy who blew people away with his shred-metal version of Pachelbel’s Canon (5th most watched video on YouTube). He’s version of Vivaldi (below) is just as fun…

The October 13th, 2007 issue of the British music magazine NME (both online and on the newsstand) will feature a free CD courtesy of NME, the National Union of Teachers (NUT) and the group LoveMusicHateRacism. The CD will feature exclusive tracks from a number of artists including Bloc Party (full tracklist still being put together)

The issue will feature “a special LMHR-themed cover bringing together Lethal Bizzle, Babyshambles, Bloc Party, Dirty Pretty Things, The View and The Enemy, as well as feature articles about LMHR including a roundtable discussion with the artists on racism and music”.

Apparently the creation of this CD project began after the white nationalist political party BNP, a known racist organization, setup a “Great White Records” label to produce CDs of “white power” music to recruit students into the organization.

I was pretty excited when I first heard about Heima, the upcoming documentary about Sigur Ros and their homeland of Iceland. I’ve loved the band for years now and have always wanted to visit the country so to have the two together on the big screen…well that’s just fine by me. Then I saw the trailer and I got even giddier…

Not only do we get to hear the unreleased song, Lagid-i-gaer (fast becoming one of my favorites), the trailer also shows just how beautiful the Icelandic countryside is. I almost went to one of these concerts and now I wish I had.

But wait…it gets better.

As of 12pm this afternoon, I am the happy holder of 1 ticket to not only see this movie as part of the New Yorker Festival…but the screening will be followed by a live set with Sigur Ros. Yeah…I’m a happy camper. For once, tickeetmaster didn’t screw me.

Just read my fellow FR*A blogger Peachie’s post about a”fake ameteur” utilizing the power of YouTube to get some publicity and I was struck with how much the video reminded me of the following video by Meiko.

I don’t really care if one bit off of the other (although Meiko’s was posted about 7 months before Ms. Digby’s, is singing an original song NOT by Rhianna and is a bit cuter)…but personally I’m really enjoying Meiko’s self-titled debut CD. I highly recommend taking a listen…especially if you are a fan of the Feist like genre (as in Feist from the latest iPod commercial).
