Scratching with a Boombox!!!
May 16th, 2008Maybe I’m wayyy behind with this post, but noticed the following vid on the fm blog (developed by the FR*A Agency btw =)
Maybe this will resurrect the boombox!!! I’m wating to see some DJ walk into the club, ghetto blaster on shoulder, then set it up only to scratch on it! DENKYM? YOU LISTENING TO THIS??
Does it Offend You, Yeah?
May 14th, 2008That is the name of the band, yeah. My friend pointed them out to me, and fast off the heels of Mitsubishi commercials, I gotta say, I love it. Take a peak:
I’m really into their sound and live act, they’re coming to Cali in July - FR*A road trip?
awesome, awesome:
Go to their home website (which btw is interesting) for some free downloads:
If I Ever Play Live Again…
May 12th, 2008It’s gonna be like this:
How nice would it be if your setup consisted of hooking up your iPhone to the house speakers DI? This little vid is giving me all kinds of ideas… I wonder if they got a guitar simulator
Bring It On
May 4th, 2008I’ve been seeing this Mitsubishi commercial on TV a lot:
and i LOVE the song in it. Found out it’s called “Bring It On” by Belgium outfit Goose. Here’s a clip of them performing live (which by the way is pretty cool, I assumed it would just be a DJ and a turntable).
I Feel Good
April 29th, 2008Had a nice night at Feel Good Fusion the other Friday. Gotta say it wasn’t as packed as the last two, but i thought it had just the right amount of people (that means I didn’t have to wait an hour to get a drink). This time around I decided to step up the “interactive” level of the performance and actually draw as many heads at the event as possible. So I spent several minutes getting to know some of the attendees and taking their head shots. Then it was back to my station where I would do the drawings of the actual people attending.

1. That’s right son, people are actually taking pictures of my work. 2. You know you made it when people are forging your artwork.

1. Dj Revolution doing his thing. 2. This is where I last left off…
Unfortunately I arrived at the event late (sorry Denkym!) so I didn’t come close to finishing the piece. If you want to see the finished piece as well as the finished Feb. piece, come to the next one! Really though, come on out. I gotta say, Feel Good Fusion is always a good time. The vibe is amazing, I can’t think of another event where so many different types of people gather to truly enjoy the arts and get down.
Till next time BITCHES!!!
I’m Going Out!
April 20th, 2008Couped up in my new pad, I finally am forced to see the orange lights of Hollywood.
The adventures began with Politix As Usual - a night of food & drinks hosted by Mr. Kim (of Evil Monito) and Kenny Mac (of 10 Cane Rum).

(1. Outside Providence 2. Inside Providence - Jennifer of New Era)
The setting took place at Providence where delicious drinks and plates were served with practiced timing.

I noticed everyone seemed to have the right amount of drinks just when we were finally seated.
Met some great people and had some great conversations. Thanks again to Rickey and Kenny (stay tuned for my Munny!)

(1. Jupiter of UNDFTD - who knew he was a shutterbug? 2. 10 Cane goodies… what should I do with my Munny?)
The adventures continued on Friday Night at Hotel Cafe. Big Phony’s cd release party for his album, “Straight to Bootleg” was awesome. It was nice to see him perform with a live band.
Ken Oak’s performance afterwards was amazing as usual. Side note: I think Ed and Bobby should battle off on an improv comedy night.

(1. Big Phony’s merch booth 2. Play that beat!)
Afterward I headed out to Beauty Bar with some friends and enjoyed some much needed Macallans 18 (thank you Eric!). I noticed a dood taking photo’s all night, so I figured he needed some photographing himself. On the way out I got a piece of some great drumming. It’s Friday night on Cahuenga and this dood is killing it with some buckets. Got to enjoy the beats as the percussions filled the night sky as we continued to walk down south.

(1. Beauty Bar - “Too cool for school”, or “School’s Out”? 2. I shot him.)
FR*A x PEPSI
April 14th, 2008A while back we got hit up to appear on a Pepsi viral campaign. Basically they were looking for artisans across the world to document. I got to fit into the LA spot along with the artwork associated with FR*A.

Thanks again to Kat and co. for the spot light!
