Oldie but Goodie
October 22nd, 2008So with the upcoming release of our new line, I went back and took a look at our old stuff. Of course I ended up on our first promo vid for our first limited shirt. Sean Gordon was gracious enough to play a piece for us all while sporting the launch issue shirt. Seeing the vid again, over a year later, it’s still amazing.
For all those who joined us late, here it is:
MUPAN
October 21st, 2008I love this man’s work. He’s got that genuine angst that seems to be hard to find in artists these days. He’s unabashedly honest in his work, to the point you might feel embarrassed. That’s good stuff in my book.
I’m particularly into his sketchbook scrawling. Also Check out his new Origami work… amazing!

Everything I Love About a Live Show
October 19th, 2008Everything I love about a live show is encapsuled in this clip of The Raconteurs.
The tempo is faster than the recording but you can tell it comes out of the excitement the band has for the performance. Things are a bit off here and there, but if you wanted a replica of the recording, why not listen to the track? I’ve been a so-so fan of the White Stripes, but there’s a lot of stuff making me want to run amok on this Raconteurs album.
Danny Cho Masturbates
October 14th, 2008Danny Cho is an unapologetic comedian who rants about unusual events from his life. He went to school as the only Asian American in East Los Angeles. He recited the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish. His Chinese best friend’s closet smells like moth balls. He even dealt with sexual molestation on a recent sky diving trip.
Two years ago, Danny was just another business consultant stuck in a nine-to-five job, spending his time figuring out how he can miss work and then playing up the different scenarios in his mind. He came up with two solutions. Either get drunk and swerve the lanes of Beverly Hills in front of a cop, get arrested and miss a couple days of work or quit and become a comedian. He chose the latter.
While attending UCLA, Danny started performing stand-up at countless numbers of colleges as well as Kollaboration, the biggest Asian American talent show in the nation. Through the power of Youtube, Danny soon became a star among the community, and soon thereafter, landed the role of Pongo, the fat, mute Thai movie critic on Mad TV alongside Bobby Lee.
Next up was a call from Hollywood, landing Danny a role on the Superbowl’s Bud Light commercial.
In Watch Your Step, Danny dives into a variety of topics like race, relationships, sex, and various anecdotes that may you cringe but you can’t help but laugh.
You can get the DVD at www.dannycho.com and be sure to check him out at his shows!
The Cataracs
October 9th, 2008
This is interesting. Just received a tip about The Cataracs:
“I wanted to hit you up about The Cataracs…two guys with poppy-electro-urban influenced music who are currently touring with The Pack. They have been getting attention from being a Myspace featured artist, to videos debuting on VH1, to cover stories with SF Chronicle. Their latest video “Julia” is set to debut on MTVU, was directed by 20 year-old Scott Tilley, a protégé of music video director Taj who has shot videos for Rihanna, NAS and LL Cool J. “It’s an accomplished video for an emerging pop band that you should keep your eye on.” - Arjan Writes”
So I checked out their video and the tune was definitely catchy… had that trendy electro-pop sound that has been building up. If you were to window browse you may think postal service, but if you go into the fitting room you find it to be Inoj.
Judge for yourself:
Best thing: The song “Julia” has a line that I believe goes like,
“You only fuck me in the dark.”
classic! haha
The Subways
October 3rd, 2008
I can’t believe I slept on this band for so long. I first got hip to them when I saw Rocknrolla (which by the way was a mediocre Snatch). I love Rock & Roll Queen as well as many of their songs which sound hmm… maybe like the bastard child of Oasis & Nirvana? Anyways the band itself features formerly engaged couples and relatives.
See “Rock & Roll Queen”:
